I recenly had a freeze in my FP prog and reported the problem with the
Problem Report agent. The suggestion was that I install the latest rev
of the Server Extensions. I d/l fpse2k_x86_ENG.exe and ran it but the
install failed. Any ideas?

Thanks Stefan - I am using FrontPage 2000. I have a feeling installing
2k2 extensions would not be a good thing unless they are the same as
those for FP2K. Do you have similar links for FP2K?

FP2000 will work just fine with the FP2002 extensions which support everything that FP2000 requires.

Thank you Mr. Rowe. I have d/l the files mentioned by Stefan Rusynko but
b4 installing I would verify a couple of things:
1- is there any way to back up the current extensions in case something
goes awry?
2- the initial update suggested I d/l & install fpse2k_x86_ENG.exe, a
large file. Are the files suggested by Stefan included in this?
3- if answer to 2 is no should I install the fp2k2 extensions FIRST, and
then the updates/security patch in the order suggested or LAST as is
shown in the list? [I would think that fp2k2 extensions shud be first as
updates/security patch are applied to an existing version.]
4- maybe a silly question, but how will I know if all updates have been
applied correctly? i.e. version#, new options available...?

Larry.

Personally, I prefer the FP2000 extensions. Is there a specific FP2002 feature that you want to use
that requires the FP2002 extensions, if not, then you can stay with the FP2000 extensions.

You can always un-install the FP2002 and extensions and re-install the FP2000 extensions. The only
way to back up the current extensions, is to backup your entire system.

Not really. I was just trying to be a dutiful client-user and install
the upgrades the 'system' said that I needed when I submitted a problem
report. I'm perfectly happy with the FP2000 extensions.
The only problem is that FP2K freezes now & then and has to be
terminated from TaskManager. It may be just local saturation [if there
is such a term] as it happens usually with 2 FP sites open with at least
2 browser windows while online. I have DSL with a fast system but even
that has limits I guess.

Thanks for the help and advice. I think I'll stick with the FP2000
extensions. Why fix it if it ain't broke?
