Gmail SMTP Error

Hal

For several weeks, one of my clients has successfully used Gmail's SMTP
server to send messages from Entourage 2008 from his Time-Warner email
account when traveling with his MacBook.

In the last couple of days, he's now getting 5.7.1 error messages in
Entourage informing him that his Gmail username and/or password might be
incorrect. He has no problem logging into his Gmail account from Safari
using the same username and password that creates the error message in
Entourage 2008.

Any suggestions as to why this is happening and a cure for the problem?

Does he have SSL turned on and configured correctly?

When I looked at his account using iChat screen sharing, all of the
settings, per the instructions at the Gmail web site, were fine. Again,
everything was working fine until a couple of days ago when he started to
get the 5.7.1 error messages.

Have your user quit Entourage and then go to
/Applications/Utilties/Keychain Access and select Keychain First Aid.

If this doesn't work then have him go to Tools --> Accounts in Entourage
and re-enter his password, even if it's the same password.

Hope this helps!
