Groove 3.1 activation

David Kearns

I have been trying to activate a copy of Groove 3.1 Virtual Office and I have
been getting that no response from the activation server. I have tried this
on 2 PCs in our business office and on my home PC, all PCs have wide open
access to the internet. has anyone come across this problem as well, and if
so what was the workaround if any. Or do I need to upgrade to Groove 2007?

Hi David,

Are you using NOD as a virusscanner.
This can give some problems with Groove activation.

All PCs are running McAfee virusscanners, all were disabled during the time I
was activating.

Hi David,

There have been some problems with the Groove 3.1 servers, impacting
creation and activation of new users.

We reported this to Microsoft Corp. a few days ago (19 March).

Problems should have been solved now. Just try again :)

We are having the same problem for months with groove too.
Activation server is randomly available. I re-installed groove (3.1) on a
new computer and can not activate it! It says that it can not reach
gms.groove.net. Is there any other server that can be used?
What is the problem with 3.1. Wont Microsoft continue to support all groove
clients?

Also, one more thing. We can not activate Groove 3.1 from any PC running
Windows Vista. is this something happening only to us?

Thank you for your support,

When you encounter an activation error, you may want to check whether
the Groove servers are reacheable using Internet Explorer :

http://gms.groove.net/gms.dll

If this generates the message "Server is alive", you will need to check
firewall, antivirus, and/or proxy settings and scripts.

Note that some antivirus software need Groove to be added to a list of
authorized software.

FYI, I have seen some Groove activation issues at a few of our
customers. Most of them where caused by proxy script files.
