Groove 3.1 End of Life

Shawn

Hi,

I received a notification from Microsoft that it is initiating the End of
Life Process for Groove 3.1. Does anyone have anymore details about that,
like when services will be discontinued (the notification states "[with] the
upcoming release of Microsoft Office 2010). Will Microsoft no longer be
providing Hosted Management Services for Groove?

Any information is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Shawn,

There is an official technote released about this:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/974478

Support for Groove Virtual Office 3.1 will end with the release of Office
2010. As there is no official release date for Office 2010, I cannot give
you a specific date for end of Groove virtual Office 3.1 support. Hosted
Management Services 3.1 will still exist, but there will be no support for
those services. Was there something more specific in the email that you did
not understand?

Hi Gregg,

I appreciate the quick response. After the reading the official technote, I
am a bit concerned about the "[inability] to use a My Groove Account page to
access your previously purchased Groove 3.1 licenses or to manage users."
Just to clarify, that means I won't be able to add or revoke licenses from
users, correct? If I'm not able to access the My Groove Account page, will I
still have access to my data stored on the server? And, I assume that some
time in the future, data from the servers will be erased completely; is that
accurate?

Thanks for the help.

Shawn
