How do I remove a 'Progress Line'?

I just started looking over the different features of MS Project and while
viewing with the 'Tracking Gantt' option checked, I am trying different
buttons just to see what they do and, for instance, when I click the 'Add
Progress Line' and click in the schedule somewhere, I can't remove it; 'Can't
Undo' is what is displayed under the 'Edit' drop down menu.

I typed in 'remove progress line' in the help 'Search for:' dialog box and
didn't get any 'help' from that either.

The only relevant search result that comes close the subject of 'remove
progress line' is 'About progress lines', which doesn't address how to
'remove' them.

My only way around this will be to save after each successful task and close
without saving and open the file back up if I use the wrong function - and
this is ludicrous at best.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hello DPB,

Go to Tools > Tracking, Progress Lines. Uncheck "Always display current
progress line" and "Display progress lines at recurring intervals.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Hi JulieS,

Thanks for the timely reply!

Those boxes were/are unchecked.

Any other suggestions?

You're welcome, sorry the first go didn't solve the problem. I assume
you were using the Tracking Toolbar and clicked the Progress line button
and then semi-randomly clicked into the Gantt chart, creating a "custom"
progress line. In the Progress Lines dialog box, is there a check which
says "Display selected progress lines and then a box with project line
dates? If so, select the Progress line date showing and click the
delete button. You can also uncheck "Display selected progress lines"
to remove then line the date definition will still be there should you
wish to turn it back on.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Hi JulieS,

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

This solution should be written into the 'Help' 'Search:' topics somehow,
someway.

Thanks again for your timely reply!
