Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: Intel I know how to put headers on the page but I cant get the system to number them. It will only take the intial number I put in not number as I create new pages.

Do you want to insert page numbers? If so, then you need to insert an
updating field; static text (i.e. text that you type manually) will not
change, so the behaviour you are seeing is the expected behaviour.

Place your cursor in the header, then open the Formatting Palette. Make
sure the Header & Footer section is expanded, then click on the button
that is labelled "#".

If this is not what you want, post back with more details.

Anything you type into a Header will repeat on each page where that Header
appears. Use the Inset> Page Number command or the controls for Header &
Footer elements which appear in the Formatting Palette of the Toolbox when
you're actively in the Header or Footer.
