I am a home builder and would like to create a formula to simplify
optimize the ordering of trim materials. The following is an exampl
for base molding:
Base Molding Length = 16'
Wall Lengths In House That Need Base Molding (in feet) = 2, 24, 5, 12
8, 17, 35, 5, 4, 4, 3, 7, 4, 12, (etc, etc, this list of pieces in on
of our houses is quite long)
Rules:
- Other than walls longer than 16' all wall sections will be ful
pieces.
- The formula should calculate the number of 16' trim pieces I need t
order that produces the least amount of waste. To do this the formul
must scan all room wall pieces and then fit them into 16' lengths o
trim in the most optimal way.
