How to depoly Visio 2007 via SMS - using the /admin switch

I want to depoly Visio 2007 unattended. How can I do this? When I run
setup.exe /admin from the command prompt, I get "Files necessary to run
Office Customization Tool were not found. Run Setup from the installation
point of a qualifying product."

I've deployed Office 2007 this way. Is it not the same with Visio?

I found it! I copied the Admin folder from the Office 2007 CD into the
structure of the Visio installation and the /admin switch now launches the
wizard. I've copied the msp file to the updates folder, and successfully
installed Visio unattended through SMS.

Bob,

I saw your recent post, and I had a couple of questions I was
hoping you might be able to help me with. I am also trying to deploy
Visio 2007 to our end users (via Zen rather than SMS), but I cannot
get the OCT to work using the setup.exe located on the Visio 2007 CD.
This is what I have done so far:

1.) Copy the entire Visio 2007 CD to our network location
2.) Copy the entire 'Admin' folder from the Office 2007 CD into the
folder where I just copied the Visio 2007 CD to.
3.) Navigate to the Visio 2007 network location via command prompt and
run 'setup.exe /admin'

I immediately get a pop-up that says "For information on usage and
command-line parameters, see Setup.htm"

Were there some other steps you took to get this working? Thanks!!

Sorry for the reply delay, I was on vacation...

A couple questions, and maybe the answer...
Are you physically logging into the server and have proper permissions to
the directory? (Make sure the files are not read only).
Are the Visio and Office versions the same? What version of Visio and Office
are you using?

Try copying the files again to your local machine and running it there to
see if you get the same error.

I can't think of anything else I did to get this to work. Without the Admin
folder, do you get the same error I was getting originally ("Files necessary
to run
Office Customization Tool were not found. Run Setup from the installation
point of a qualifying product.")? If you're getting the same error with and without the Admin folder, there is something else happening.
Let mem know how it goes! I'll help as much as I can!

David,
Sorry for the delay, I was on vacation. A couple questions:
Are the versions of Office and Visio the same? I think they should be for
this to work. What versions are you using?

Are you logging into the server locally, and have correct permissions on the
folders and server? Make sure the files are not read only. Refresh the
permissions throughout the folder path just to make sure. I did remote
desktop into the server and it worked, but if you can log in locally, it will
remove one more failure point possibility.

When you try to run the admin switch without the Admin folder there, do you
get the same error or the error I was getting (It was:"Files necessary to run
Office Customization Tool were not found. Run Setup from the installation
point of a qualifying product.") or the same error you're getting with the
Admin folder there? If you get the same error with and without the Admin
folder there, something else is happening.

I can't think of anything else I did other than copying the folders. You
could try copying the files to your local machine and running them from there
to see if you get the same error. I don't think file structure length would
be an issue, but I always make the path as short as possible just in case.

Let me know how it goes! I'll help as much as possible.
