How to split tasks and show correct duration without elapsed time?

I used the "Reschedule uncompleted work to start after" option in
Tools>Tracking>Update Project. This option has created some split tasks as
it should. I see that the elapsed time between the split tasks is included
in the rolledup duration for that particular phase. Is there anyway to avoid
including the elapsed time. Please note that no elapsed durations are
specified in my project.

Thank you,

Hi ,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

I assume you're looking at a summary. If so, as with all summaries, their
Duration is a measure of the working time between the beginning of the first
task and the finish of the last. Are you sure there isn't another task
where work is being done during the split?

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :)

Got it! Thanks. I just had to nix using the "Reschedule uncompleted work to
start after" option, Change all actuals to 0% and move the start date to the
date I wanted, reenter actuals. Now I can see the correct summay durations.

Thank you sir,
