Don't know if this is right discussion group -- but -- I am running XP Pro/
XP Office - (2002).

ISP said there was no problem on their end. I worked with ISP to recreate
account in Outlook etc. Can receive/send mail through webmail. Have run
Office Install/Repair. Still can't connect.

error message:
Task 'pop-server.nr.rr.com - Sending and Receiving' reported error
(0x800CCC0D) : 'Unable to find the e-mail server. Please verify the server
information in your account properties.'

Any help appreciated. carol

Are you using an AV like Norton or MacAfee to scan incoming and outgoing emails ?

Yes, but the last update was on the 27th and the problem started on the
28th. I did update firefox and shockwave -- I backstep with firefox (even
though I didn't think the update would affect email) - can't emage shockwave
would.

Thanks for inquiry - hope you can help

Disable the email integration of Norton. In other words disable you automatic email scanning of incoming and outgoing emails. You will still be protested with your resident Norton AV.

Most of the time you will need to uninstall Norton completely and then re-install it without the email scanning feature.

You will need their uninstall Tool available at the Symantec site. Using the uninstall button that is there with your present install will not do the job completely. Use the tool as mentioned above.
