I Can't Reset Page Margins!

V

Valliegirl84

I changed the normal page margins when I was working on a document. I do this
all the time, so it was no big deal. However, everytime I open a new document
now, the right margin is at the 6 in. mark on my ruler. When I go into the
page setup it says the margin is at 0.5 in. which is where I had it set last.
Obviously, that's not where it is though! When I try to change it, I get a
pop up message saying "increasing right margin causes last column to become
too narrow in some sections having unevenly spaced columns". Can anyone help
me at least get the settings back to the default ones of 1.25" and 1"?

Thank you!!!!

Try whether the following solves the problem:

Select Format > Columns. In the "Apply to" field, make sure "Whole document"
is selected. Click the "One" icon (even if it is selected). Click OK.

If it solves the problem, you will need to apply the same change to
Normal.dot (since you tell the problem is in all new documents). See:

Selecting "Default..." saves the current settings as the default; it does
not cause the document to revert to the default settings.

I'm having the exact same problem. Can't find answer anywhere. Gonna try
what was suggested here - I'll let you know

Go to Format | Columns and click on the preset picture for One (even if you
already have 1 column selected). Then click OK. Now try again.

thx Suzanne; I had tried that from the suggestion of another post. I ended
up opening a "new" doc, and then setting the columns to "one", then cut &
paste my doc into "new" doc. It worked - thx again, plib
