IE 8 and missing send to onenote

Since installing IE 8, the add in "send to onenote" is enabled but not
available on Windows XP. I've searched and searched with no results. I
have done repair - no difference. (to be clear, I do not mean "print
to onenote". This add in is the only reason I use IE rather than
Firefox. Please help!

Firefox has an OneNote add on:https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/7538/

Yes I am aware of that - but that add on doesn't have the same
functionality as "sent to onenote" - the add on opens a side note, in
full screen; with Send to Onenote you can hit one button and specify a
target path .

I guess I am trying to find out if anyone else has this issue - I know
it is a problem with 64bit, but I'm not running that.

Under "manage add-ons" it states that "send to onenote" is enabled but not available. Under "more info" is says that the file and folder are not available. Any thoughts on how I might locate that file or folder?
Thanks!

With add-ins in OL I never was successful in activating things that were
"not available".
Only a repair could fix that.

You said that you did already run a repair, but not for which of the two
apps.
You might try a repair for both.

I did a repair of both - appears to be related to Windows Live
Onecare. I turned Live Oncare off, "send to onenote" button
reappeared - turn Live Onecare back on and all was well. Then today, it
is gone again. I repeated the above steps but the button does not
reappear. Any ideas?

I suspect you just do not have room for Send to OneNote with your current
Toolbar size. At the far right of your toobar you should have a double
arrow head. Click on that. If Send to OneNote is on the drop down list, you
need to increase the size of your toolbar.

Right click on a blank space on a toolbar and uncheck Lock Toolbars. Then at
the left edge of the toolbar you want Send to OneNote on, you should have a
vertical dotted line. Use your mouse to move the dotted line to
increase/decrease the size of your toolbar. Once you have room, you can
drag Send to OneNote from the drop down list to the toolbar. Then lock your
Toolbars again.

You can also rearrange the order of appearance of the buttons on that
toolbar, putting the Send to OneNote button further up the list. Same
for all the other buttons on that toolbar. Since that button is the
one I use more than any other, I always move it to the top of the
list.
