installing Office on new computer

Chuck

I just bought a new laptop and want to transfer Office 2003 Small Business
from my existing desktop to the laptop. However; the Office 2003 suite on
the desktop is an upgrade version from a previous version of Office (Office
2000 Small Business). Do I have to install the 2000 suite then install the
2003 suite? Thanks

No
You just need the cd available to pop in when the installation complains
that it cannot find a qualifying produce
This assumes that you have retail editions, and that you have uninstalled
any trial edition

As far as I can remember about the upgrade mechanism for the installation
programs, I think you may install Office Small Business Edition 2003 directly
but be ready with your Office Small Business 2000 media, setup might ask for
it for verification.

I'd suggest you read this TechTrax article to verify if you can
legally do this and, if so, it'll also provide some tips on getting
multiple versions to play nice on one system.
