Interface Not Registered word/outlook 2000

Doug Cunningly

My computer was running slow a while back, so I decided to use the
Outlook editor instead of Word. But it's missing some good stuff like
paste special and replace all, so I decided to go back to Word as the
editor. Now it comes up and I can write the mail, but when I go to
send the message, I get a popup that says "Interface Not Registered."
Also the spell check doesn't start up, and afterwards when I close the
window, it doesn't ask if I want to save it.

I ran the detect and repair option successfully from Outlook, but it
didn't make a difference.

Same thing happens if I do a Send To email from Word.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Office 2000 / SR1 9.0.0.5414

An interface is something to do with the Component Object Model (a very
technical programmin topic). Registration takes place in the registry and is
done automatically by a Setup program. I suggest uninstall Microsoft Office
(back up important e-mail and account settings first just in case) and then
reinstall.

Running the setup program may sort the problem out.

Hello

I spent a multitude of hours today trying to solve the following problems with Office
1) Could not print from Outlook - always got a script error on line 134
2) Could not use Send To from Word or Excel and send the documents in Emai
3) Could not use Word as the default Email edito

The usual error was "Interface not Registered"

I performed the Repair installation (no help), and also removed Office completely and reinstalled (no help)

(Note that my setup is Win2000 with Office XP

After combing through all the postings/microsoft solutions(fantasies), and web info, I arrived at the following procedure that I would follow. This are in increasing difficulty and complexity
1) regsvr32 C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\OLE32.DL
2) regsvr32 C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\MSRDO20.DL
3) Add a new profile using control panel - mail - profile
4) Regclean from ZDNe
5) Repair windows installatio
6) Reinstall window

In my instance, after performing the first 2 steps all the problems were gone and everything works fine again (thus I did not have to perform steps 3-6). Other users reported that simply doing the re-registration did not fix their problem. For other users, I would suggest checking the problem after each step to see if it fixed it before proceeding to the next
