Is it possible to download DATA1.MSI?

I am asking the above because I have Office 2000 and don't have the disks.
Without it I cannot download and install Service Release 1a.

No, you need the original Office 2000 CD.

I had a problem with that file too...I had the disc and a backup and could
never update to SP1 cause the release wouldnt find it even though I was
looking right at it.

This file was created when Office was installed - it's not necessarily
on the Office installation CD but rather it should be on your
computer. If Office came preinstalled then missing installer files is
a common issue. Even if you find another Data1.msi there is no
guarantee it will contain the information you need in order to run
Office Setup.

Ideally you need the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility to remove the
Windows Installer data so you can reinstall Office and recreate the
entries. However if you don't have the Office installation CDs then
this will do you little good. :-(

Please post all follow-up questions to the newsgroup. Requests for
assistance by email can not be acknowledged.

Microsoft community: Thanks for your responses. I should have explained
that a repairman installed Office 2000 to get my system up. My computer came
with Office XP for Small Business. I kept 2000 for the benefit of having
Access and Powerpoint.
