Is there a way to sort rules?

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel Email Client: pop I have over 50 rules- is there any way to sort them alphabetically so that I can access them more easily?

Sure, you can drag them, but rules run in the order they are listed and this
could break some of your rules. I suspect you could eliminate a lot of rules
is you used different criteria.

Interesting request.

When creating a rule in Entourage 2008, all rules fall into teh enabled window in the order of which they are created.

However, in the upper right hand corner of that window shows two green arrows. Clicking the UP arrow will sorted the names of the rules alphabetically from first to last. The down should sort them from last to first.

Hi,

these two arrows do not sort the rules, they simply move the rule that
is currently selected up or down one position.

As Diane has pointed out, there is no method to make Entourage sort the
rules automatically, and this is by design: rules run in the order in
which they are listed in the Rules list, and this order is generally not
alphabetic. If all of these rules were sorted alphabetically, some of
them might stop working as a result.
