I have a file (say data.xls) which is shared by many users as a reference
file i.e. nobody has write access to the file. Up until recently the file
has only been reference by Excel and could accessed at the same time by any
numer of users but now it is being refered to by Access XP as a linked
table. The problem is now when somebody opens a spreadsheet that refers to
Data.xls when this new Access DB is open, an error is returned stating that
the file can't be opened.
Closing Access resolves the problem.
Is there anything that can be done to prevent Access from locking this file
?
TIA
