Mailbox Full

Version: 2004 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) Processor: Intel Email Client: pop We have one user who's mailbox has reached the 4GB limit. I've run both Normal and Advanced Repair options. The Advanced repair completed, but when Entourage tries to open we still get the MAILBOX FULL error.
How can I get access to the mail & folders in this identity so I can clear out enough space to make it workable again? Database rebuilds don't seem to do it anymore. PLEASE HELP!
If I create a new Identity, is there a way to simply access the folders on the old identity so I can move over what's needed (contacts, newer email, etc.)
Thank you!

First, Entourage 2004 does not have a 4GB limit that was Entourage X. It
could be the error is coming from the ISP. This doesn't sound like a
database error. A lot of users select to leave POP mail on the server and
most ISPs don't have large mail boxes for POP. Use your web browser to check
your mail online.

You need to identity the problem correctly first.

No. You have to be able to access a database in order to salvage the data.

Thank you for replying! You are correct, we have Entourage X. (I think the dropdown changed the version by accident)

The error occurs before the program even opens, it's not likely it's an ISP issue at all. The error happens just past the program splash screen before it even opens the menu structure or anything. Authentication and SEND/RECEIVE doesn't occur at this point.

The size of the database is 4GB which does hit the Entourage X limit.. so, what can we do now? Are there any MS tools available to allow us to remove data? Why is a program designed to simply "lock up" when a maximum is reached, without giving the user a chance to access that data?

Anyone?

The only thing the program suggests after Mailbox Full is to rebuild the database. (Which I've done, and also Advanced Rebuild.) Are there two issues going on and not one?
Thanks,

You do get a warning unless you have turned off notices. You can try
EmailChemy to recover the mail only, or you can try rebuilding on a 500GB
free drive. I¹ve been able to rebuild full databases for clients using a
drive with this huge free space requirement.

In case the above link does not work:

It's important to get the original database BEFORE you tried to rebuild.
