Database Utility not seeing Identity

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) Processor: Intel Email Client: pop Entourage 2008.

When trying to run Entourage it tells me that it can't access my data. I need to run the Database Utility. Entourage then crashes and opens up the database utility. It doesn't see my identity, so I can't repair it.

I have done some searching and found some things to try. All of which were old, none of which worked. So I thought I would check and see if there is a solution yet.

I have moved the identity and let Entourage create a new blank one and as soon as I move the database file back into the identity folder it disappears from Database Utility. The database file itself is around 184 MB in size. I have checked the permissions and it is set the same as when I have a new identity created.

Any other solutions out there?

It sounds like your database is too corrupted to see. It¹s very small so
rebuilding should not be an issue. You might try going back to the first
rebuild copy. Under Entourage in the Menu bar, select "Switch Identity".
Select the Identity named like this:

[Backed up 1-21-2010 13.35]

If it opens, then try to manually remove your data.

How to manually move your data. (when import fails and/or you need to move
to a new Identity same version or revert to an older version)

I don't have any [Backed up *] identity folders.

Are there any utilities that can help me recover the data? Are there any companies that will recover for a fee?

I am the Tech Coordinator for a school and according to the user they had some pretty important email they might be willing to pay a fee to have recovered if that is an option.

You could try some of the third party applications, but before you buy make
sure there is a demo. It¹s possible they won¹t be able to see it either.

I do recovery for clients, but from your report I'm not sure I could recover
it either. You can contact me off list to discuss your problem.
