MS Office 2008 Installer does not Recognize my MAC OS X

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

I am trying to download the home & student edition of MS Office 2008. I put in my product code and all is well; at least until I get to the point to select a destination. When I get to this screen to select my Mac HD it has the red exclamation point and says that in order to download this software i need to have at least MAC OS 10.4.9 (or Tiger)... I have MAC OS 10.5.7 (Leopard). I have enough gb, ram, etc... Why on earth will it not download? and How might I solve this problem?

Thanks!

The first move I'd make is to get the OS X 10.5.8 Combo Update from the
Apple Downloads site & apply that. The Combo will not only bring OS X
current but will also "patch up" most other problems that might be
interfering.

Then repair disk permissions, log out, hold Shift while you log back in,
tehn try the installation again.

I was advised to send you to Microsoft Support. Support for installation
doesn't count against your 2 support calls. I suspect they will give you
trouble getting support since you won't have a PID (generated after
installation).

Hope this helps!

Further feedback:

The installer DOES give the customer their PID before reaching the 'drive
selection' screen.

The customer should be able to receive support from that point on.

Is it possible that you've dragged the installer application to the desktop
or something similar? This can sometimes cause permissions issues.
