I've noticed truncated emails for multilanguage texts.
The setup is :
_ html
_ no-auto encoding.
_ choosed encoding : utf-8
Except for the UTF-8 encoding, my setup is a standard fresh Office 2003
installation. (no old boxes on the computer)
The test message is easy :
I type a few hundred lines of 'é' (a.k.a. : french ´e ), then I type a
"TERMINATOR" line. (This works for japanese, corean, chinese, russian,
hebraic, ... take your pick)
It looks like:
éééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééé
....
éééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééé
TERMINATOR
Then, I send the email to me and/or to a friend.
The email shown in "sent" is correct.
The email received in the inbox is wrong. the text has been truncated.
The last line looks like
éééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééé<br
or
éééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééé=
or
ééééééééééé<p class=
The message I wrote has a lenght of ~10Kb, the one I received was ~8.5Kb
Obiviously, the HTML has been truncated.
I've tried on a few computers, every single Outlook 2003 fails to send the
test properly.
Outlook 2002 seems to work.
From my tests, it looks like to write a lot of characters outside the
us-ascii space triggers the utf-8 bug. (I think it happens for utf-7 too, but
I'm not sure nor I care)
Other encodings (non-unicode ones) are working but are useless for a
multilanguage setup (and Outlook 2003 is supposed to be multilanguage).
It looks the "plaintext" part of the message is properly sent. Only the
HTML one is broken.
I could think to use plaintext only, but in outlook 2003 "special"
characters are shown as "?" in utf-8 plaintext-only messages.
I can read plaintext utf-8 written by outlook 2003 in any other email (2002,
thunderbird, webmail, ...) but not back in 2003. (The "inbox" is wrong, the
"sent" is ok)
Any idea how to make this work ? (I badly need UTF-8)
