Need Outlook Help Please!

I've got a computer that the motherboard went south on and will not
boot. I bought a new computer but I need to get the Outlook files
off the old hard drive to put into the new computers Outlook program.
Can someone tell me where and what I'm looking for to be able to do
this? I've done a Google on it but all those results say to make a
backup of the old data, which I cannot do because that computer will
not boot. The drive is good as I have it conntcted to an old machine
and I can see all the files on that drive. I just need to know which
ones I need to move to the new comuter so Outlook will be like it was
on the old one. OH, and both computers have Office 2003 on them.

Any help?

If your original Hard drive is still okay (and assuming it has an operating system on it) cant
you just set it up as the Master drive in the new machine? (make your new drive the slave.)

Then you can use Outlook to create your backups, fling them into a folder on new drive, and
then you can retrieve them once you have ditched the old drive again.

Failing that... messages should be stored in a folder that can be found in a directory which
will be similar to:

C:\Documents and Settings\*your user name*\Local Settings\Application
Data\Identities\{50XXXXXD-8XX8-4XX7-X79X-EA12345C123}\Microsoft\Outlook Express

This is for Outlook Express but I imagine Outlook stores files similarly.

messages in your inbox are a file called inbox.dbx, and if you have any other folders they
will be named as they are in the program ie Work.dbx , Frinds&Family.dbx etc.

Simply copy these files and put them into your new Outlook storage folder.

(Storage folder can be located by clicking your inbox and picking Properties)

Thanks anyway biz but none of these methods work. The Dell drive out
of the old computer won't boot because it doesn't see the Dell stuff
in BIOS and besides that, this new computer has a tamper seal on the
case so I don't want to open it up.

Those files you mention for Outlook Express are different in Outlook.
From what I can find out thru Google the Outlook file I need is a .pst
file which does not show up on either drive?

Anywho, there has to be a way to do this. I just haven't run up on
the right person yet I reckon.

Thanks again

This is the location of the Outlook.pst file in Windows XP, sp2 (not sure if
sp1 is different and you didn't include what OS you use.)

J:\Documents and Settings\**Your Profile Name**\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook

Put your old file into this location and then open up Outlook. You should
see it like you want it. Ron
