New Hotmail issue with Entouage X

Last week Entourage stopped being able to send or receive from Hotmail.
I'm on Entourage X for Mac Version 10.1.6 It stopped working on 10/29
and hasn't worked since. Everytime I try to send or receive I get an
Error: -23016

All my other accounts on Entourage (all non Hotmail related) still work
fine, so I know it's a hotmail issue. Has anyone else had this issue?
Please help.

Yes. I can get everything fine on from the Hotmail website. That is
what I have had to do these past 5 days or so. So it's not a matter of
the Hotmail server being down. Some sort of communication problem
between Hotmail and Entourage. Yet Hotmail works on it's own, and
Entrourage works fine with other mail services.

Hi,

I did find some info on the error you're describing, but this explanation
doesn't seem to relate to Hotmail accounts. Here's the link, anyway:

To get back to your problem: could you be more precise about the Hotmail
account you're using? Is it a regular, free Hotmail account, or did you at
some point upgrade to Hotmail Plus ($20 per year)?

I am using the upgraded Hotmail account that I pay a yearly fee for.

I looked at the fix to linked and under "Option 2" I don't have the
options they are referring to. I don't have a "click here for advanced
sending options" button. It mentions nothing about an SMTP server. It
only has a check box for if I want to have my mail copied to the "sent
mail" folder on my web account.

There goes the only explanation I might have had. Microsoft have gradually
blocked HTML access from email clients to their free Hotmail accounts
because a number of people have used this combination to send large amounts
of spam mail. So for most people, the free Hotmail accounts are no longer
accessible through Entourage. It shouldn't affect you, however, as you are
using an upgraded account, and HTML access should work properly.

That's normal. As I said, the article doesn't relate to Hotmail accounts,
but to POP or IMAP accounts, but I just thought I'd include it anyway, as it
refers nevertheless to the error message you're getting. It is perfectly
normal that you don't see any of these options for an HTML account like
Hotmail.

Have you tried re-creating your account? If not, is there a customer service
hotline you might call?
