New laptop, re-installing Office 2007

Hello

A few months ago I bought Office 2007 online and downloaded it onto my
laptop; I have since bought a new laptop which has the Trial version on it.

I keep trying to convert it to the full product using my product key; the
entire process occurs and looks successful (I get windows prompting me to
install, and then close everything down and re-open Office for the changes to
take effect) but when I restart Office no changes have taken place, it's
still the trial version, as if nothing ever happened.

What can I do to get the full version on my new laptop, seeing as I've
already bought and paid for it once?

Uninstall the Trial version from the new laptop. Clear out all Temp files.
Re-boot.
Then copy the file(s) you downloaded originally from your old laptop to the
new, then do the installation from there.
If you no longer have the old laptop you will need to check with Digital
River (where you presumably downloaded from the first time) as to whether
you can re-download the installation files.
Then MAKE A BACKUP OF THEM!!!!!

Please tell us the version of the application you are asking about,
your OS, Service Pack level
and the FULL contents of any error message(s)

I've got a similar situation, in that I downloaded the installation
file for Office 2007 when there was a special offer, but didn't have a
PC capable of running it at the time. So I have a downloaded
installation file and a product key.

Now am using a laptop with a trial installation of Office 2007 on it.
I haven't tried anything yet, but the trial will expire shortly, so as
a first resort I am wondering whether to

1) enter my own product key next time I start up the preinstalled
version

2) run my own installation file and let it overwrite or update the
installed version

3) uninstall the installed version and start from scratch with my own
installation file

As I say, I haven't tried anything yet, so I don't know which is most
likely to cause problems.

Thanks.
