No AutoUpdater found

Version: 2004 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: Intel Just installed Office 2004, using one of my three keys, but when trying to update Word it's telling me it can't find AutoUpdater. Neither can I.

Ideas/suggestions?

Go to this web page:

http://www.microsoft.com/mac/downloads.mspx?pid=Mactopia_Office2004

Install all the updates for 11.5.x, starting with the lowest number. Don't
bother with the one for Exchange Server.

By applying those updates, that error message should be resolved, because
one of tem puts in a new version of AutoUpdate that will run on an Intel
Mac.

Hope this helps

Many thanks. I actually did try that after I posted my query and it didn't work. It then occurred to me that I had used the particular key on a laptop I no longer own. Now I need to figure out how to remove a copy from one of the two hard drives on my desktop and use that key, which should work, no?

Best,

No, your problem is not the key, your problem is that the update has found
two installations and it's confused as to which one is the real one.

Remove the second drive (or disable the network so it can't "see" the other
installation) and try again and it should work.

The other thing that will stop it is if you do not install to the
Applications folder of the Boot partition. You can move the software later
if you must, but until you get it fully updated, the autoupdater cannot
handle the software being in an unexpected place.

The installation will work with any of the keys, you just won't be able to
run the software unless you use an unused key :)

Cheers
