Office 2000 reinstall - need help

I own a copy of Office 2000 Professional version SR1. I am trying to install
it on a computer with Windows XP. The Office Setup program produces a window
called "Product Compliance Check" and tells me that Setup failed to locate a
valid qualifying product on my machine. I am unable to go further with the
install, beyond this pojnt. What can I do to avoid this roadblock and
install my Office 2000 software?

OK, I now see that my CD is an upgrade version and requires "qualifying
products" on the computer for it to upgrade. The problem is that I
experienced a hard drive failure and had to replace the hard drive. I
reinstalled the Windows XP and this went fine. But there are no qualifying
Office products on the new hard drive for the upgrade CD to refer to. Is
there anything I can do to solve this problem?

When it asks for the qualifying product, insert the disk for the previous
version and browse to the disk.

Only thing you can do is to purchase a new version of Office 2003.
Your Office 2000 CD will qualify you for the "Upgrade Version".
