Have you installed the Ofc sr1a (an o-line install)? You
will need that before any further updates will progress.
You can download the small file from download centre.
Hope this is useful.

I already have office service release 1 but the data1./msi
problem still exists. Microsof support says it is a
problem havin Wors and office at the same time but I also

any ideas?

Andy,
Yes, I have installed SR1A. What I'm up against is that
the request continues for
'Data1.msi' from Office Pro PREMIUM. Well I don't have
the PREMIUM version, and can't for the life of me, figure
out why it continues to ask for the PREMIUM disks.
My original package is MS Office 2000 Professional. Where
the PREMIUM stuff comes from is beyond me.
But, 'Data1.msi' is not on my original two disk package.
Before I forget - THANK YOU for trying to help me.

Pip,
I still don't have an answer. Here's hoping we both find
out how to 'fix' our damm MS Office problems.

Andy and Ralph,
I am having exactly the same problem, same messages.
Does anyone out there have a workaround for this? We
seem to be caught in an endless loop.

Hi, Lynn,

Was this an upgrade? Did you ever have Microsoft Works or Word installed on
your computer?

Check the Windows Control Panel's Add/Remove Programs applet to see if Word
is installed separately, or Works. Works also contains a DATA1.MSI file and
the installer might be trying to update Word and requesting that file.

If so, provide the Works installation CD to see if that satisfies the
installer.

If you cannot get hold of the proper CD and your system was pre-installed,
then please contact the manufacturer of your computer who pre-installed it.
They are responsible for supporting it and should provide you the proper
media.
