Hello all,
I use Active directory to deploy my office 2007 enterprise. without any
updates and sp1 is working my office 2007 enterprise very fine. but now i
want to implement the sp1 for office 2007 enterprise. i have donwloaded the
"Microsoft Office Suite SP1" and follow the help how to implement this
directly in my Office 2007 Enteprise installation directory on my server.
here is the link where you can also find the way i have done this:
http://bink.nu/news/office-2007-sp1-installation-slipstream-guide.aspx where
off course i have change D:\office2007sp1-kb936982-fullfile-en-us.exe
/extract:C:\O2007Temp\Updates\ to passed to my folders and servers. to here
no problems.
But now, when i try to restart my pcs, then Office 2007 is installed but
WITHOUT the SP1. i dont really understand why the mst are not installed.
here can you also find an error msg from one Windows XP machine:
Detection of product '{A4E80A75-07C1-48C5-AAFD-8A6455C9D429}', feature
'MsgrFeat' failed during request for component
'{88FF7C8D-7ECC-421B-9782-8B47C584DFE8}'

and after the following error:
A provider, OffProv12, has been registered in the WMI namespace,
Root\MSAPPS12, to use the LocalSystem account. This account is privileged
and the provider may cause a security violation if it does not correctly
impersonate user requests.

hmm...
stupid question but does anyone has the same problem? and maybe someone can
help me too ???

Thanks a lot.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to deploy an Office 2007 update such as a
service pack via Group Policy software installation. The information in
the Office 2007 Resource Kit at
http://technet2.microsoft.com/Office/en-us/library/efd0ee45-9605-42d3-9798-3
b698fff3e081033.mspx identify the limitations of this deployment method
with Office 2007. Updates will need to be applied separately.

Under Deployment Considerations, there is this note ...

Challenging to maintain, because updates must be applied to all client
computers. This can be done by using a logon script or other delivery
method. It is not possible to use the Updates folder to apply security
updates or service packs for initial deployment of the Group Policy object
(GPO).
