Office Service Pack 2 errors

I recently installed Office 2003 SP2 and KB905756 (Excel) on my 2003 Server
SP1 machine. Ever since, I am receiving application errors in the event
viewer:

Event ID: 1000 Source: Microsoft Office 11
Faulting application winword.exe, version 11.0.6568.0, stamp 42e178a5,
faulting module mso.dll, version 11.0.6568.0, stamp 42e18ef6, debug? 0, fault
address 0x0003446c.

Event ID: 2001 Source: Microsoft Office 11
Rejected Safe Mode action : Microsoft Office Word.

Although removing the service pack/Excel patch alleviates the problem, it is
not an option.
Any suggestions?
