Outlook (2003) address lookup

If I type in a previously used address in the address bar, Outlook
suggests the e-mail address. Looks nice. But it also shows me an old
(no longer used) address of the same person. The first address is
derived from the address book (that's OK) , the second is apparently
derived from old e-mails (that's not OK). How can I force Outlook to
look only in the address book and, if the address is there, prevent it
from searching in history?

You can remove the bad address by highlighting it in the dropdown and
hitting the Delete key.

You can't. You are using autocompletion which never uses the address book.
It uses only the autocompletion cache. If you want to use Contact data only,
then you turn off autocompletion completely and use only autoresolution
(Automatic Name checking).
