Outlook backup doesn't work

I downloaded and installed the MS Outlook backup add in.
It worked for a while, and now it doesn't do anything.
My last successful backup was on 01/17/2008
I have uninstalled then reinstalled several times with the same results.
I've removed the com add-in several times also, it still doesn't work.
I am using MS Office 2003 on a Windows XP machine.
Can anyone help get this to work again?

So what backup program are you asking about? Personal Folders Backup
(PFB) from Microsoft that runs as a plug-in to Outlook? Or some 3rd
party backup software, like Acronis TrueImage, where you can specify
in a backup task to include only files of specific applications?

If you are asking about PFB, what happens when you use the File ->
Backup menu entry? Does the backup start and complete okay when
started manually? PFB *only* runs when you exit Outlook (and after
the specified number of days since the last PFB backup).

Have you looked at the configuration settings for PFB to ensure that
there is a number of days for a backup interval?

I am using the PFB from Microsoft. It's set to backup every 2 days.
When I try to run it manually, nothing happens.

There is no window that pops up. What you will notice when exiting
Outlook is that the outlook.exe is still loaded in memory until the
backup completes.

In the path and file specified in PFB as to where you want the backup
saved, is a file getting created there?

I gave up on PFB a long time ago. I don't think it wasn't because it
didn't work, however. I've moved on to real backup programs. In
backing up my system, the files used by Outlook are included, or I
could configure the backup to just save Outlook files but I don't see
the point of doing backups of just some apps without doing them all,
especially since the backups run at night when I'm sleeping.

Yes, the file was created in the path specified, but it hasn't been updated
since 01/17/2008
I also have the outlook shutdown add-in as well, outlook has a bad habit of
not ending when it's closed out .....

Never mind, I just tried turning off the outlook shutdown then turned it
back on and closed out of outlook.
The outlook backup just kicked in, now it's working again!
