Outlook sending read receipts to unaccessible outgoing server

I have an odd problem. I have inadvertently said yes to sent a read receipt
for an email that was originally sent to my old email account. I can still
pick up mail from it but cannot send. This inability to send the receipts
causes outlook to lock up while it continually tries to resend. As they are
not normal emails there is nothing in the outbox to delete.

I've had this previously, thought it to be spyware, grumbled at PC tools at
their inability to detect it and have completely rebuilt all software (which
cured it) b ut now after getting three emails this receipt requests from a
rellie, I've just realised what is happening.

I've got nowhere in establishing a connection with this old server, does
anyone know where I go to delete these reciepts?

Regards

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. All
unsolicited mail sent to my personal account will be deleted without
reading.

Thanks Milly, I am obliged. I thought I was going to have to strip the whole
machine to cure it. This is how I solved it previously and it's lengthy. I
had better apologise to PC tools as I could not see how this could be
anything other than spyware.

Thankyou.
