Page Fault in MSO97.DLL saving master document

After opening all subdocuments for a recompile of a Illustrations index for a
large book and subsequent attempt to save Master document (before or after
depressing Collapse Subdocuments Button) this fault occurs.
WINWORD caused an invalid page fault in
module MSO97.DLL at 018f:307a1e5b.

I am using MS Win 98 v. 4.10.2222A
MS Office 97 Word SR-1
On a Pentium III 730 MHZ
384 MB Ram (maxed with 3 128 MB chips)
with 8 GB free space on C: drive

Do I need more memory or is this problem software related?
