Patch package could not be opened

I've re-installed windows 2000 and none of my office
programs would open due to a patch package not being
opened. Been working at it for 3-4 hours and need help.
Tried several things to make it work based on microsoft
search and help etc. Any ideas. Please lay them out step
by step.
