pen and selection mode

running onenote 2007 tablet pc xp sp2

I may be stupid, but I can't see any difference in behaviour when I check
"automatically switch between pen and selection tool"
(under tools, options) and when I don't. I have to manually switch, using
the toolbars. This is a pain, so some kind of automatic switching would be
quite nice!
