Picture Manager - Office 2003

Lo people,

I'm having an issue with picture manager in office 2003.
It is taking over a minute to load the app, which I
believe is a result of the recently browsed folder which
contains a shortcut folder to a network computer no longer
available. This folder cannot be deleted - whe I try I
receive the error "Cannot deleted file: Cannot read from
the source file or disk". I have unistalled and
reinstalled Office, reset registry values to their
defaults and searched the registry for all references to
Picture Manager, recently browsed, the network path (which
incidentally is a UNC path to a C$ share on a windows 2000
Pro PC), parts of the network path, etc. Short of
renaming one of our computers and creating the folder in
question, I cannot think of any other way of resolving
this problem!

In the end I renamed a PC on our network and created the
folder in question.

One annoying "feature" of this Recently Browsed folder,
however, is that when a shortcut is deleted from the list,
it doesn't simply delete the shortcut, it deletes the
file/folder! Does anyine know a way around this?
