Power Point mpg

Movies (mpg) that I have linked in my Power Point won't play in the
presentation. They play fine in Window Media player. I have installed a AC3
Codec, but that didn't work.
They play fine on my other computers. This laptop it won't play on is
running Windows XP, Version 2002, service pack 2; Power Point 2003.
Any other suggestions would be appreciated!
Thanks

As posted many times here, PowerPoint doesn't use Windows Media Player to
play mpg files in a presentation. It uses MCI which is different.

See http://www.playsforcertain.com/tutorial.htm for further information on
getting .mpg to work.

Personally, I use a video editing program (not Windows Movie Maker because
it won't work with MPG files either) to convert all my video for PowerPoint
presentations into a .wmv (Windows Media Video) file. Never had an issue
with using that file format. Google for ".mpg to .wmv converter" and try
some of the free converters out there.
