Power Point Sound File Size

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: Intel I have put together a presentation for some relatives with about 38 photos and a background song. After trying to email the pps and being told the file was too big I reduced the size of all the prints and got the file size down to 5.4 MB. I know that is still large. Then emailed the file and the sound did not play. After reading the forum I went to preferences and raised the file size to 50,000.
Went back and added a 3:30 minute song. The file size is now 41.4MB. I just received a PPS in an email file that has 50 slides and a 3:30 second Celine Dion song, total weight 8.9 MB.
How do they keep the size of the song file from being so large. I converted an 8.3 MPEG file to a WAV file and the file size went to 47.2. When I embed the wave file in the presentation that 47.2 is added to the total weight. I know there is a way to hold the file size down in the music files because I get these PPS's all the time with total weight of under 10MB. How do they do it, especially on a MAC?????
Thanks for any advice.

Hi,

Try using Audacity (free) to change the sample rate and other aspects of
the wav file to get the file smaller.

> Thanks for the reply Jim. I have read and read and read, trying to find some answer. There seems to be some programs for PC's to reduce file size but I didn't find one for a Mac.
Again thanks, I'll give it a try and write back.
