[PS2007] - Viewing Shared Document from Project Professional

G

godrid

Hi,

When I try to open a shared document using the Collaborate->Documents
function in Project Professional 2007, I received the following error and the
document is not being opened.

"Project cannot access Project Server http://epm2007/pwa.
Verify the URL in the Collaborate tab of the Options dialog box (Tools
menu). Make sure the server is functioning correctly, and is a valid Project
Server.
Retry accessing the Project Server - http://epm2007/pwa"

The same happens when I try to access to a reporting document.

Hi Marc,

I can access the document from the workspace and I have tried out in quite a
few different deployments (single machine, db server + app server) and all
having the same issue.

Thanks

Hi Godrid,

have you made your URL a trusted site? i would assume you have, but please
double check. I would also check the settings under tools > option within the
Collaboration Tab. Check the your options are correct ( e.g. windows user,
Workspace URL).
Let me know how you go
thanks

Hi Marc,

The URL is set as trusted site in the IE.

I notice that the workspace URL is pointing to '' within the Collaboration
Tab, I think that is the problem but I do not know where to set it.

H Godrid,

The URL is usually passed from Project Server. Try to open Project Pro and
then open the project where you wish to view the document library. then go to
Collaborate, Collaoration options and let me know what you can see. If the
URL is still empty then we have found the problem ( all we then need to do is
find the solution :) Let me know how you go
Thanks

Hi Marc,

I open an existing project using Project Pro and true enough the workspace
URL is correctly specified but I still received the same error as before when
trying to open the document.

Hi Godrid,

hmmmmmmm, I have tried it here and it works just fine. I am not able to
reproduce the issue. the only thing I am confused about is the error message
you have send in your first post. This error message only looks at the PWA
URL and not the workspace URL. You mentioned that you have this issue on each
PC and also on your test and prod environment is this correct?

If you have not tried it out on different PC's can you please do so. Also
can you make sure that you have "admin" rights in Project Server. i dont
htink that will make a difference, but testing doesnt hurt.

I wish I would be able to help you faster mate, sorry that it takes so long.

Hi Marc,

I would like to thank you for your time and effort for trying to reproduce
the issue.

I have got the same issue on all my 4 deployment sites. I also managed to
simulate the same issue on the Microsoft EPM Demo VPC.

To clarify the scenario, I could get to the shared document list from
Project Professional but having the issue when I try to open a text file in
my shared document.

Thanks and Best Regards
Godrid
