We recently upgraded our computers to Windows XP and reinstalled our
Publisher 2002 as well as Office XP on them. However we can't print from
Publisher. The problems is listed in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/906339/
as a Publisher 2003 problem which Service Pack 2 for Office 2003 will fix.
However as we don't have Office 2003 what shall we do? Here is the exact
error message we get on Publisher 2002 and describes exactly what we have
done.
"You receive a "Please choose another printer" error message when you try to
print in Publisher 2003
You install a network printer on a client computer by using a command-line
command.
For example, at a command prompt, you type a command that is similar to the
following command, and then you press ENTER:
rundll32 printui.dll,PrintUIEntry /y /ga /n\\server\printer
Note In this command, \\server\printer is the location and printer name of
the network printer that you want to install on the client computer.
When you try to print a publication in Publisher 2003, the publication does
not print. Additionally, you receive the following error message:
Please choose another printer.
Publisher cannot find the printer "\\server\printer" for this publication.
To select a different printer, click OK.
To return to Publisher now, click Cancel."
