Question on task update vs. project plan complete

M

Merry

Hi,
I have encountered an issue.
In EPM (PWA), Resource A updated his task1 to 100% complete, and I saw him
Save & Submit task1.
Then I am the project owner, I went to EPM (PWA), I approved task1 under
Task Updates.
Then I went to Project Center, in the project plan enquiry screen, task1 is
still 0% complete.

What is the reason? EPM admin suggested us to publish the plan every time
after we approved task update. Is this correct?

Thanks,
Merry

Hi Merry,

Basically Yes is the answer to your question. Either do this by opening and
publishing the project, or do it by publishing the approvals within PWA.

To add to my cousin Ben's sage advice to you, I recommend as a best practice
that your PMs all accept task updates directly in Project Professional 2007,
one project at a time. This allows the PM to immediately see the results of
the latest task update, to then do both variance analysis and plan revision
as needed, and then to finally save and PUBLISH the latest schedule changes.
If your PMs all followed this approach, they would totally eliminate the
problem you just described in your original post. Hope this helps.
