Question regarding Enterprise Custom Field for Tasks

I’d like to ask you something about Enterprise Custom Field for Tasks.
Here in my company we are creating a separate PWA instance for activities
similar to Help Desk. I thought creating a Project by Customer, and create a
task by Service Request.
Service Requests are maintained in a separate Sharepoint list, and I need to
track an Service Request ID. So, I’ve create a Enterprise Custom Field for
Tasks, for example, Service Request ID. In addition, we would like to allow
team member to register this service request into PWA, by means of a New Task
request, that will be approved by a manager.

However, the custom field do not appear in the New Task page. The only way I
could find to fill in this custom field for new tasks is opening the project
in Office Project, which creates an overhead for the manager.
It's interesting, because the page for create a Proposal does present
Enterprise field section...

Do you think of any workaround for this?

Your Project Server administrator has to add the field to the My Assignments
view. Then the field will show up on the My Tasks page. Hope this helps.

Thanks Dale,

It happens that I'm also the Project Server Admin.
This is a good workaround, indeed. However, in my first attempt a Team
Member couldnt change the value of this field in My Assignments views (field
were disabled).
Are there any special requirements to update this custom field in My
Assignments page?

Another point is: the manager will receive two notifications for this task -
one for Creation plus one for Update. That's another reason for placing the
custom field in the New Task page.

If you want users to be able to edit the information in the custom field in
the My Tasks page, you will need to complete the following steps:

1. Log into PWA with administrator permissions.
2. Click Server Settings - Enterprise Custom Field Defintion.
3. Click the name of the custom Task field to open it for editing.
4. Select the "Roll down, unless manually specified" option in the
Calculation for Assignment Rows section.
5. Click the Save button.

Hope this helps.
