Resource Overallocation

I have been working and reworking the schedule in MS Project 2003 all week. I
am teaching myself as I go. I am having problems with assigning resources to
tasks. I assigned all the resources to tasks and was over allocated so I
removed them and started over and over and over. I am working with one
resource at a time now to understand how this is happening. The one resource
is over allocated with 2 one minute tasks on one day. The calendar is sent
up for an 8 hour work day. I am not sure how to fix this.

Hello Mystikkid,

The problem is both of your one minute tasks are scheduled for the
exact same time. When you assign the same resource at 100% to the
two one minute tasks, the number of assignment units for the
resource are 200%. If you level the resource with "minute by
minute" settings, you'll see one of the 1 minute tasks get delayed.

See FAQ 34 at http://project.mvps.org/faqs.htm for further details.

You may find it very helpful to change the way dates are display to
show time as well. Go to Tools> Options, View tab and select a date
format that shows time as well as date info.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Thank Julie. I will work on the schedule. Your explanation makes sense. If
I have any additional questions I will post them.
