Saving baseline on a consolidate file

I'm trying to set baseline to 3 sub-projects in a consolidated file on
project 2007 pro stand-alone.
1.Expanded all tasks
2.Selected all tasks
3.tools->tracking-set baseline
4.checked the "selected tasks" radio button
5.clicked OK

And the project crashed.
Am I doing something wrong?
Is there a best practice on saving baselines on a master project?

Open each project individually, save a Baseline, and then save the project.
