Scheduling outsourced resources (Project 2007)

What is the best way to schedule outsourced resources in a Project? Having no
control on their schedules, hours worked etc. Is it recommended to set up a
separate calendar
(task) calendar for each outside resource and apply it to tasks using the
outside resource? Or set units to a number representing the number of
resources typically used by that outside resource. Costs are not being
tracked in this project. Thanks very much for any assistance.

Hello JMD43,

I would create the resources on the resource sheet and set the max. units
field to reflect the number of each type of outsourced resource you have
available in the project. If you have 3 programmers for example, set the
max. units to 300%. You can then assign the resources (2 programmers = 200%)
to the tasks at what ever level of detail is appropriate.

No need to make additional calendars, if you create the resources, the
resource calendar will automatically be created for you.
