Setting Status Manager

MSOP 2007, Swever = SP2, Clients =SP1
I thought I posted this yesterday but I don't see it so here goes again.
In trying to change the Status Manager for a task, when the PM opens the
file the Status Manager column is backfilled with their name for all tasks.
i.e. PM A builds project plan and publishes it. PM B opens the file to select
tasks to be Status Manager and ALL tasks have PM B's name displayed, but
Saving and Publishing the plan does not change the Status Manager to PM B.
We tried clicking PM B name on selected tasks by PM B but no luck. Curiously
clicking PM A's name by PM B would change the Status Managerto PM A. What am
I doing wrong????

1) Your clients should be patched to the same level as Server.
2) Not sure I follow this statement:

"PM B opens the file to select tasks to be Status Manager and ALL tasks have
PM B's name displayed, but Saving and Publishing the plan does not change the
Status Manager to PM B."

So the PM B's name is showing up as the Status Manager for all tasks, yet,
when you save and publish it, their name is not showing up as Status Manager
any more? Could you provide more detail pls....?

1. We have not brought clients up to SP2 to avoid the EG corruption potential
that exists with both at SP2.

2. PM A builds the plan and publishes it which makes them the Status Manager
for all tasks. PM B then opens the plan to select tasks to be the Status
Manager. When he does the Status Manager field for all tasks displays his
name, but if the plan is Saved/published at this time with his name displayed
in all Status Manager tasks, it does not replace PM A as Status Manager for
any tasks, but leaves PM A as the designee. PM C will have the same results.
Further testing shows PM A can select PM B from the drop down list and PM B
will be changed to Status Manager for that task. PM B can then reset PM A as
Status Manager for that task or name PM C as Task Manager.
The original directions state PM A COULD NOT name PMB as Status Manager, PM
B would have to open the file and set himself as Status manager. That appears
to have changed with SP2..
So the question remains if the PM opening the file is by default displayed
as Status Manager for all tasks how can they determine who is status manager

Applied June, no change to symptoms. I believe we'll wait until the EG fix is
released and see if a full upgrade to SP2 affects it. Any thoughts on when
Aug CU will be out?
And thanks for the assistance

Given the history of CU releases, my best guess would be around August 45th
give or take a week or two.<g>
