Spelling and Grammar

Spelling and Grammar in Word: 2008 is somehow disabled and in the 'spelling
and grammar' button in Preferences it's grayed out. I did notice that
PowerPoint and Entourage do have spelling and grammar enabled and accessable
for change if user requires to do so.
In 'Tools' my language is set to 'English US' and 'dictionary' is set to
English US as well.
I did look through the other posts on the newsgroups but no postings related
to this issue.

I've tried trashing the preferences but still no joy.

No idea at all: We can't even begin to look until we know exactly what you
are using.

To answer Spelling questions we need to know which versions of Word you are
using, what updates you have applied, which kind of CPU you have, which
version of Mac OS, and what language you are working in.

Sorry: without the information that tells us what you are using, we can't
help you.

ah, okay.

MBP 2.4 GHz intel core 2 duo processor
Leopard, updated to 10.5.2
Office 2008
English UK

also, this was a clean install - I wasn't upgrading a previous version
of Office

The problem is driving me crazy so any help would be very gratefully
received !

PS - so far i have not had any other problems with office at all - no
crashes etc

fixed !

I followed Mihai's advice and re-installled the proofing tools - and
its now working.

that has not replicated, I wonder?
