Subreport header and footer

I have a subreport in the header of a report. Is there a way to get a
separate header and/or footer for the subreport (different from the header
and footer in the main report)?

Are you talking about a Page header/footer?
Or a Group header/footer?
Of the Report header/footer?

The pages are managed from the main report, so there is no such thing as a
working page header/footer in a subreport.

One way to simulate it is to create a group header in the subreport, and set
its Repeat Section property to Yes. It will then repeat across each new
page. In the Sorting And Grouping pane for the subreport, in the Field
column, use an expression that doesn't change, such as:
