Task Updates Grid Not Loading

R

Ryan

Good Morning

The last few days the Task Updates Grid has 'hung' while loading via IE.
However, if I refreshed the view it would load which led me to believe that
it was a local issue.

This morning, it stopped loading at all and just sits at 'loading grid...".
I've tried deleting the activeX controls, checked the security settings, etc
with no luck.

I logged into our test environment and tried loading the same page and it
works just fine which leads me to believe that it is an issue on the server
side.

I'm not sure if it's related, but the resource center assignments view does
not load any data either. It returns a blank screen.

Just for everyone's knowledge we are using:
PS2K7
SP2
April CU
Hotfix 968850/968851

Has anyone seen similar behavior and if so, know a way to resolve it?

Thanks,

Ryan

Just to clarify further on what I've found by poking around.

I had many jobs in the queue that were getting queued and waiting to be
processed. I restarted the queue service, they cleared and the task updates
view loaded normally.

However, after I processed the first update, it stopped working again. I
restared the queue service, the queue is clear, uninstalled/reinsatlled the
activex control and it still does not work.

When I tried to uninstall the activex controls I get this error when
deleting it:

------------------------
Runtime Error!

Program: C:\program files\internet explorer\iexplorer.exe

R6034

An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library
incorrectly. Please contact the application's support team for more
information.

I am running IE 6, SP2 on an XP machine.

Thanks again for your help.

I'm having the same issues but with a different config.

I have XP SP3 on my desktop
IE 7
Project Server SP2 and hotfix 968860

It's very frustrating and there is no help anywhere. If you do cure it
please let me know how!

Hi Ryan,

We also faced the same problem,
The solution for this problem is to add the pwa URL as the trusted site.
e.g add http://epm to trusted site.

Thanks,

All,

I experienced this this morning as well. I accepted 11 of 12 updates
submitted by resources and when I clicked "Accept" the screen went blank and
stopped loading. The updates were applied and I was able to close the window
and open my schedule to review and publish the updates, but now the "Tasks
Updates" grid does not load. I switched to my laptop and tried to load it
there with the same results... sits there with "Loading grid..." so it is not
client machine specific nor IE specific since I have IE 6, 7 and 8 and none
of them will load the grid. I also reloaded the ActiveX and saw the same runt
time error when deleting the pj objects.

I have SP2 and April CU installed as well (sounds like a bug),

After looking at everything both I an the Admin could think of I was finally
able to get my grid back.... I used a different schedule, assigned myself
some tasks, updated the tasks in PWA, opened my schedule and when I accepted
the updates it loaded the table. No problems since then... <crossing fingers>

Hi Darrell,

Did this fix the problem permanently for you or has it recurred? This
approach did not resolve the issue here. I'm suspecting a bug as well. We
are also at SP2/April CU.

Thanks for the response Gary!

We tried to run the reports on both the Project 2007 client and the PWA.
Either way, you the 'Loading Grid...' message. see:
http://entens.net/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/loadinggrid.JPG

I'm in the process of building a test server to test updates to SQL Server
(as per the linked article) with updates before transitioning to our
production server. I'll check in if that fixes the problem.

We were having the same problem. Some project managers where able to approve
tasks and somewhere not. It just 'hung' in IE while loading. It wouldn't
load in PW or project professional.

Since it was only a few managers I looked at their projects and noticed they
assigned resources to summary tasks. I went into every project and removed
the resource from the summary task. I then published every project.

After that the grid loaded with no problems. The projects had been in the
server for a while and the problem only started after we installed the
latest service pack.

I hope this helps.
