Translate Chinese Simplified to Traditional Chinese offline

I would like to translate Chinese Simplified to Traditional Chinese and vice
versa in Office 2007 (English version) but that can only be done when I am
connected to the internet. Anyway, I can do the translation offline?

In order to translate between Chinese Simplied and Traditional Chinese
offline, you should install a program on your computer that can perform
translations.

For Office 2007, you can buy a Chinese Simplified or Traditional language
pack from http://buy.trymicrosoftoffice.com/buyusa/product.aspx?sku=3809677

The language pack includes translation tools, plus Chinese Traditional or
Simplified Office screens and help files.

http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/help/HA102434161033.aspx has more
information about the pros and cons of buying a language pack, and
determining whether you already have an appropriate language pack installed.

Alternatively, you may be able to find a different Chinese Simplified to
Chinese Traditional translation program that you can download from the
Internet.

If you can connect to the Internet, then you can use
http://www.microsofttranslator.com/ to translate between Chinese Simplified
and Traditional Chinese.

If you need access to translations offline, then the problem is more
complicated. Microsoft does not sell individual language packs for Office XP.

The Microsoft Office XP Proofing Tools Standard Edition product includes
Chinese Traditional/Simplified translation software. However, the Office XP
Proofing Tools software is hard to find. Microsoft stopped selling it years
ago, and it wasn't widely available to begin with. See
http://www.microsoft.com/PRODUCTS/i...665c96f7-925f-450d-8fe7-37ae896ff14c&type=ovr
for more information about the Proofing Tools bundle.

There may also be downloadable tools available online from other companies.
http://www.omniglot.com/writing/chinese_links.htm has dozens of links to
websites about Chinese. There are very few links to translation resources on
that site, however.

Hi Todd,

I have another question. When I do the translation when I am connected to
the internet, the formatting does not follow. Is there a way to keep the
formatting after translation? Thanks.

Sorry for the delay. I found a solution for your problem.

The default online translation tool (WordLingo) does not preserve
formatting. However, you can switch to a translation tool that preserves
formatting by installing this add-on:
http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=9660314.

Hi,

I have installed the language pack for Simplified Chinese and Traditional
Chinese. At the translation options, I have untick both the online dictionary
and machine translation so that I can do the translation offline but there is
no option to translate from Chinese Simplified to Chinese Traditional.

The formatting of the text is to be done online, right? Can I keep the
formatting offline as well?

Thanks.
